About

Hailed by critics for her “crystalline voice with its silvery top-register” (source: Olyrix) and her “powerful stage presence” (Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung), Margot Genet has been selected to take part in a number of prestigious academies, including the Académie Jaroussky in 2020, the Abbaye de Royaumont in 2021 and the Atelier Lyrique at the Verbier Festival in 2022. She is the recipient of the ‘Malvina and Denise Menda’ grants from the Opéra Comique (2021) and the Richard-Wagner-Verband in Dortmund (2023).

Margot Genet is a radiant Eurydice. The young soprano is an amazing discovery:  Perfect coloratura with exceptional creaminess  and elegance in the highest register.
And Margot Genet sings with an incredible range. Her soprano is lyrical and delicate when she seeks refuge in sibling memories together with her brother […]. Yet she can also sing as if balanced on a razor’s edge: piercing, sharp, almost fiercely angry.
With flames flickering to colourful effect, the French coloratura soprano, Margot Genet performed the wordless obligato with superb control in her impossibly high tessitura.

  • Season announcement 📣

My second season at the @staatstheatersaarland , and so many pieces and musical adventures to look forward to! Some big challenges (that Gänsemagd sure has a lot to say 😅) and some stepping out of my comfort zone (singing with a metal band 🤘), but I know it’s going to be a magical season, and I’m really excited! 🤩

  • First concert of the 2026/27 season: done!! 💪

How nice to start the season with a chill and not-at-all-stressful piece, where I can just slowly ease back into my body and voice 🤡

I had a blast singing this crazy aria, and despite the stress that comes with singing this kind of insane coloratura, I enjoyed every second of it! 🔥

I’ll announce my season very soon, so stay tuned!! 👀

Conductor extraordinaire @justus_thorau , with the fantastic @staatstheatersaarland orchestra, whom I’m SO happy to be reunited with! ❤️

4- The coolest costume, but also the most uncomfortable 😵 At first during the fitting, the seams were so itchy that it was almost unbearable

5- The final bow of Dialogues des Carmélites 😭 How many tears were shed during this whole production? We’ll never know, but definitely a lot 💜

To many more moments of doubt, pure joy and beautiful music making 🥂🥂
  • Yesterday was the last performance of Wagner’s Götterdämmerung at the @staatstheatersaarland , where @carmenseibelmezzosoprano , @clarasophie_mezzo and I had the privilege of singing Wellgunde, Flosshilde and Woglinde, the 3 Rheintöchter 💅

Here’s a little behind-the-scenes look at everything that happens before stepping on stage. Hope you enjoy it ✨

  • On Thursday morning, I got a call asking me to jump in for the pre-dress rehearsal of Innocence at @staatstheaterbraunschweig in the same evening 😱
I jumped on the next train (the DB gods were with me 🙏), and seven hours later, after crossing all of Germany, I was standing side stage with my score, singing a role I hadn’t performed in a year and a half while the stage assistant walked the part 🤯🤯🤯
Intense stress, a huge amount of work, but thankfully I had worked so much on this score that it was all still there 😮‍💨

I had to jump in again the next day in the same setting, but as you can imagine, with much less stress 😅

Very happy and grateful for the opportunity, and for the chance to meet such a wonderful team in Braunschweig 🤩🙌

I also got to see this new production of Innocence, and I’m telling you, go see it if you can!

It was a revival, so we only had two weeks of rehearsals before opening 😱 I definitely felt less prepared than usual and that’s when stuff like that happens 🥲

Anyway the story entertained my nephew so that all that matters 🥰

Didn’t know what to post after such an intense season, so I just picked 5 random moments to share 💁🏼‍♀️

Well… I guess they’re not that random after all :

1- My first day, when I met everyone all at once. I was completely overwhelmed, but I had a really good feeling about this place ☺️

2- My first show and my first Pamina ✨ A dream role debut that had to be postponed because I got sick 🫠

3- Seeing my face on a giant screen. Such a weird feeling, but it also made me proud and gave me a real sense of accomplishment 🥹

A dream I’ve had ever since I started sewing my very first project (a curtain!) during Covid finally came true: I sewed my first gala dress, which I wore for our concert version of Götterdämmerung at the @operaroyal.chateaudeversailles 🥹🥹
It’s far from perfect, but I’m so proud that I finished it, and it only gives me more motivation to start my next dress 😊 I’m completely self-taught (thank God for YouTube), and while it made me realize of how much I still have to learn, it still feels like a huge accomplishment in my life 😇

Thanks for the pictures @carmenseibelmezzosoprano 🥰

Götterdämmerung 🗡️🐴🔥
I had the great honor and pleasure of making my debut in my first Wagner role at the @staatstheatersaarland : Woglinde, the highest Rheintöchter 💁🏼‍♀️ So cool to work on that repertoire, and to share such incredible teamwork with the amazing @clarasophie_mezzo and @carmenseibelmezzosoprano in our 25-minute scene!!
But maybe the greatest thing was to listen to the rehearsals, and try to understand how my colleagues manage to sing such beast roles, being on stage singing the loudest music ever for 5 hours (!!!!!). It is such a privilege to be able to witness this first hand 🤩

Today the whole cast, orchestra and choir leave for Versailles for a one-night guest concert at the @operaroyal.chateaudeversailles tomorrow May 10th, I absolutely can’t wait! If you had told me I would make my debut in Versailles with a Wagner role, I would NOT have believed you 😂

After this concert, I’ll be back in the lab to work on Siegfried’s DNA for three more shows : May 17, May 31 and June 13, don’t miss it! ✨
